Learn how to get the most ouf of Yoink
"Using Yoink couldn’t be simpler: drag an item to the edge of your screen and out slides your handy shelf.
Yoink helps you work faster and more efficiently in small but meaningful ways."
Yoink has been featured on the Mac App Store on numerous occasions: “Better Together”, “Apps with great Today widgets”, “Apps that look great in Dark Mode”, “New Apps We Love”, “Get Things Done”, “Essential Time Savers”, “Get Productive”, “New Year, New You” and “Master the Menu Bar”.
Moving or copying files can be cumbersome - you have to keep the mouse button pressed for the drag, while trying to navigate to the destination of your files.
Why not let Yoink hold those files for you?
Step 1
Drag files you’d like to move or copy to Yoink
Step 2
With your mouse free, navigate more easily and quickly to the destination of your files
Step 3
Drag the files out of Yoink to where they’re supposed to go.

Yoink offers a “shelf" for files and app-content you want to move or copy.
Virtually anything you can drag on your Mac, Yoink can hold for you until you need it.
From files in Finder to app-content (like text from word processors or images from websites), Yoink has got you covered.
It appears at the edge of your screen when you start dragging files, so you can drop files in it.
With your fingers and mouse free, navigate to the destination of your files.
It’s much easier this way to move files between different windows, spaces and (fullscreen-) apps.
When dragging files out of Yoink, it behaves the same way as Finder when it comes to moving or copying files.
Just like you would in Finder, if you’d like to force-copy a file, hold down the option key (⌥) on your keyboard.
If you’d like to force-move, use the command key (⌘).

Change where and when Yoink should appear.
You can set it up so that it appears at the edge of your screen immediately when you start to drag something, or only when you’re getting close to the edge.
Or make it appear at your mouse cursor, making placing files in Yoink even easier.
Aside from letting you hide and show Yoink manually, the keyboard shortcut lets you do even more:
Long-press it to recall files you previously moved out of Yoink.
Double-press it to save your clipboard’s contents in the app.
Make Yoink ignore apps where you find you don’t need it, and it will not automatically appear when you drag something in those apps.
With its keyboard shortcut, you can still trigger it manually.
Yoink is tightly integrated with macOS, so aside from drag and drop, the app offers system services, a Quick Action, a Share extension, Handoff and Continuity Camera integration, can be used with the Terminal and Automator, and can keep a history of your clipboard.
Easily and quickly identify files via icon previews, or a full QuickLook Preview.
Transfer files between all the devices you’re running Yoink on.
Handoff to and from iOS devices requires the separately available Yoink app for iPad and iPhone
Send photos or documents directly to Yoink from your iPhone or iPad.
requires macOS Mojave 10.14 or newer and an iPhone or iPad with iOS 12 or newer

Yoink can store recent items you copied.
Accessible from its Widget in Notification Center or the Yoink app itself, you can either send previously copied items right to Yoink, or copy them to your clipboard again.
Popular password managers are excluded by default, and in Yoink’s preferences you can add apps to the “Ignored Apps” list, from which Yoink should never store copied items.
